3月28日 Meeting Rod and Anthony from MyITforum.comIt was nice to meet you guys in person! Good party too!! SCCM 2007: The slide say it allThe bullets named on the slide are good enough to get the message. Microsoft is eager and willing... SC Service Manager: The Gadget in VistaDuring Kyrill's Keynote at the second day of MMS, Product group manager Ken van Heyning for the now officially named System Center Service Manager showed a gadget that will be used for the communication with the user involved.
The Demo was based on a scenario where a user is requesting an application. In SC Service Manager there will be a self service portal based on Sharepoint. Workflow (based on Service Modeling Language or SML) controls the request and approval mechanism. 3月27日 Common infrastructure for Softgrid in SCCM 2007SCCM 2007 together with later versions of Sofgrid wil have a common infrastructure for deploying and streaming applications when running on Longhorn. During a virtualisation session at MMS 2003, Bill Corrigan from the Softgrid team stated that Softgrid application distribution will be a integral part of SCCM as the SCCM server will have a native 'streaming'-service in contrary to the current configurations with SMS 2003. In this case SCCM will use the full extent of the Longhorn-server virtualization capabilities. What's new for SCCM 2007 SP 1 and R2?SCCM 2007 is to be released, but the SP1 and R2 versions are already planned
Configuration Manager 2007 SP1:
Configuration Manager 2007 R2:
Fun at the SCCM state o'the UnionThe guys at the SCCM State of the Union had a laugh about themselves by "showing off" functionality in SCCM that should have been working since SMS 2xxx, like getting the table collumns sorted on other info than SMS clients, Drag and Drop, multiselect etc. Way to go guys! SMS 2003 SP3: RTM takes a little longerSCCM 2007 State of the Union: Service Pack 3 for SMS 2003 will take a little longer than projected. RTM was planned to release at MMS 2007, but due to non-elaborated reasons it will take two or three weeks more. HP Update catalogs integration for SCCM 2007During the state of the union for SCCM 2007 Bill Anderson announced that HP Compaq will provide a update solution for hardware driver and firmware updates for their Enterprise desktops and servers. This wil also include the Altiris local recovery update.
Other partners like Dell, 1E and Citrix already integrated update catalogs that can be deployed with SMS 2003. This will finaly close a gap for organisations that use HP hardware in a SMS 2003 environment. MMS 2007: RTM SC Operations Manager 2007 announcedDuring the keynote of MMS 2007, Bob Muglia announced the release of SCOM 2007. The demo given about the now Service oriented architecture (in stead of the current more technical based model in 2005) made me really enthousiastic to put some effort into 'discovering' this product next to my love-of-my-live SMS....
Another announcement was that Microsoft and EMC were also teaming up to get Network-Aware management Service Management integration in a future release of Operations Manager Microsoft will introduce V2V for VM wareAt MMS 2007 during a demo about System Center Virtualisation Manager the productmanager showed a wizard-driven P-2- V (Physical to Virtual) mechanism for Virtual Server based on Longhorn server. Kind of kinky was a option to do a VM ware to Virtual Server migration for all systems hosted on a VM solution to Longhorn based Virtualisation Services called Veridian. MMS 2007: Service Desk will be SC Service ManagerSystem Center Service Manager will be the definite product name for the most interesting sibling of the System Center family. During the MMS key note, Bob Muglia gave away the to-be launched product name for application currently known as Service Desk. MMS 2007 Gossips and Observations (1)One of the most interesting parts of the social aspect of events like this is to see are "Who do I recognize from other sessions" and "Who changed from employer since last event?" An other interesting and amusing part are the discussions on the part of 'subconsious' information during talks and in slides, especialy after meals and drinkies.
My collegue Rob attended a presentation about application virtualisation and he noticed that the speaker had a slide with an overview of packages. There was an odd one in that list: SAP Client. Rob told me he found that very strange, because this would mean a client license was necessary an Microsoft never uses other applications for demo purposes then their own.... . MyITforum drinkies: Who has got a Button?Quite a popular party: about 800 buttons with the text "I'm going to the MyITforum Party" were 'sold out' in less than 15 minutes and I did not get one of those. Yours truly had to "work-around" and got one from a charming lady from 1E who gave me her own. Many cheers for you Miss! Timeframe for the System Center familyAt MMS 2007 a forecast was given about the development of the System Center family components. We can expect a SP 1 for SCCM 2007 around the second half of 2008, which will include a single detection agent for hardware updates that are currently being deployed with ITxU. This will also be the timeline for the Virtual Machine Manager. Pre-sequenced Microsoft Apps for SoftgridMMS 2007: In the near future, Microsoft will provide pre-sequenced applications for the Softgrid application virtualisation platform next to the current installation methodes and engines. (reaction of a presenter to a question from the audience, more info to be published when available, sorry!). Microsoft also was happy to announce that the number of licenses for Softgrid this year equaled and topped the total amount for all years that SofTricity tried to sell it themselves. This does not come as a suprise after a license fee drop of 85% to a low $8,50 3月21日 MMS 2007: San Diego - Here we come !I forgot how much you need to arrange for a trip like this. Three weeks ago, the county alerted me that my passport was due in April. Luckily the request and manufacturing took only a week, so I'm going to use a brand new biometric passport for this visit to the States. Today i discovered that something went wrong for the MMS System Center design session for Partners on Monday, so i got that straigtened out too. And than that 11 hour flight to LA, followed by a 2 hour drive to San Diego...
At least I found out that the 'drinkies' at the end of the day are already well communicated:
Sunday 25th: MMS Kickoff party by SMSExpert @ McCormick & Schmick’s Fresh Seafood Restaurant at the OMNI, on the Mezzanine level
Monday 26th: MMS Welcome Expo reception
Thuesday 27th: MyITForum.com MMS 2007 party (Make sure to visit the Microsoft and 1E booth for an invitation)
Wednesday 28th: ?
Thursday 29th: Closing Party
It's going to be a tough week! 3月2日 MS Service Desk: TAP airlift starts March 7thThe TAP airlift for MS Service Desk is starting March 7th. My collegue Stefan Stranger will be attending this session in Redmond. He has his own blog about MOM at www://weblog.stranger.com . A lot of information will be under NDA, but I hope that he will have the possibility to pass us some 'bones to chew on'.... |
