Microsoft started with the intake for TAP (Technical Adoption Programme) partners on Microsoft SoftGrid 4.2, which will support the MS Vista OS.

The purpose is to validate the 4.2 version through the deployment of pre-release builds. One of the most interesting program requirements is:

Deploy the SoftGrid Client in the following configuration with the following deployment expectations:

SoftGrid Client on Desktop: At least 10 applications are available for end users; At least 50 active desktop end users.
1. Prefer (not required) non-commercial LOB applications (i.e. “homegrown”) to be virtualized. .NET or Java based even better.
Vista client preferred but willing to accept XP in testing scenarios.

Especially the first requirement (Homegrown LOB etc.) shows the confidence Microsoft has in the (commercial) success of this product.
